GRAND BEND WHERE TO EAT

There are many restaurants in Grand Bend
At all price points and all levels of formality
Street food and Fine dining
This village is geared to making tourists happy with a wide selection
The Oakwood Golf Club Dining Room is the most formal in Grand Bend

I think the best restaurant in the area is the one closest to the cottage.
Less than 2 Kilometres south of Hummingbird Cottage is
The Hessenland Restaurant

Here is a link to some of the other restauants
56

GRAND BEND PARTY CENTRAL

There is something in the atmosphere of Grand Bend that says party
Bikini clad girls and guys in sportscars
cruise the main street, albeit very slowly
Grand Bend is a small village whose population booms during tourist high season
Dress is casual, casual, casual...
Lots of outdoor patios
Lots of eateries and fast foods
The fun of Grand Bend is to walk the main drag and choose the activitiy that appeals most to you
The people watching is very good

GODERICH SHOPPING

Goderich is located 30 kilometres north of Hummingbird Cottage.

LOCAL PRODUCE IN GODERICH AREA AND CLOSER TO HUMMINGBIRD COTTAGE

When visiting a new place it is always beneficial to take advantage of the local produce.
Huron County is the most agriculturally productive County in Ontario. The following link features food products grown or made in Huron County. From traditional fruits and vegetable farms to fresh fish, to maple syrup, to organically produced meats, to chocolate factories.
There are just too many to list.

It is not necessary to go as far as Goderich for apples though
DuCharme Apple Orchards are just down the road from the cottage.
They also sell firewood when they trim their trees
What could be more convenient
What could be more fresh

GODERICH BEACH ACTIVITIES

The nicest part of Goderich in my opinion is the BOARDWALK
It is more than a mile of boardwalk fronting the beaches
 of Lake Huron
Parking is FREE.
Bring armchairs and join the crowds who come to watch the tug boats guide a mammoth vessel into the harbour.
Sailboats and power boats play in the lake.
There are picnic shelters and plenty of playground equipment along the boardwalk
